What’s On Deck…

We purchase 50 pounds of bulk green beans at a time – this way we can rotate through and explore new types of beans.

We rotate new types of beans every few months. This is what’s on deck…

Kenya Tamu AB – We just got this gem of a bean in stock, and we’ve been playing around with them. Black Currant, Dark Chocolate, Citrus, Maple Syrup – with a cupping score of 86.25, we’re super happy with how balanced and smooth this Kenya tastes brewed with your everyday drip coffee maker. Kenya bean prices have skyrocketed over the years, so they are not as common at your regular coffee shop (roasters avoid the high price). That didn’t stop us – they are a unique and wonderful African coffee that must be shared!

We donated 100% of our DR Congo beans to Brian’s recovery fund – it was worth it. We sold out of them all within just a few weeks, and we are so happy they went to a good cause. They will be back – they are an incredible bean that we fell in love with!

Coffee Plantation at Yalicombe (Oriental Province) – from wikipedia

Dominican Republic of Congo – Organic Kivu Virunga National Park Blend. That’s a mouthful, isn’t it?

Conflict. That’s the shit we are talking about. You know it – every morning you wake up and feel it when your brain isn’t quite ready to face reality, but your heart is slowly beating with gratitude because it’s a new day and – fuck yes – there’s something deep down in you that accepts this new day a new beginning.

This washed, sun-dried bean grew itself at the borders of Uganda, Rwanda and Burundi – an area ripe with conflict.

This bean is a fucking survivor, and somehow it traveled all the way into your home. Nutty, right?

I don’t really agree with the cupping profile of this bean (they say: Dark Chocolate, Pineapple, Cherry Tomato, Lemon & Lime.) – I taste a bright nutty body and wonderfully smooth caramel notes. It almost gets better when it cools off – I remember sipping the end of a cold mug, and I couldn’t believe how sweet it tasted.

I roasted up a sample of this and casually drank it over the course of a few days. I overlooked how great it was because I was thinking about the next bean I was looking forward to. But I really couldn’t stop thinking about how damn good this Congo was, so I bought an entire box of it. I’m excited to share it with y’all.

Medium body.

Bright acidity.

We shall see!
